Things I Love Thursday, #2

It’s been a while! I’ve been meaning to write another TILT but I keep on forgetting and when I get the idea it’s not Thursday anymore plus when I feel like drafting a post and it’s not Thursday I feel like I’m cheating. So here’s the 2nd edition! 1. My new MacBook Pro Fresh two nights ago, I finally replaced my 4 year old white MacBook. It was with me all throughout my college/university life and not to mention my first Mac so there’s definitely a sentimental value attached to it. I’m passing it on to my little sister and hopefully getting some kinks fixed like the random LCD quirks that’s been bugging me the past couple of months. As for this new baby, I’m beyond happy! No more hindrances to work and fangirling. 2. Running I’ve been consistently running for about a month now and I love it! No form of exercise since dancing has made me this motivated until this one. I’ve always enjoyed running and won 1st place in a few races …

Work, Weekend & Beer

One in the A.M. on a Monday and a new work week begins again and is probably going to be the most hectic week since I started in this company, blame the audit. I even worked overtime on Saturday with the team and while it was tiring and stressful to wake up at 6am while most of the people were enjoying sleeping in, being with friends later that night made all the difference. Fuck tired if you have fun after, right? Since it was International Beer Day on Saturday the 5th of August, my friends and I (most especially myself), decided to be true to the day and spent it with good food, great laughs and beers. I rushed straight after work! While my friends only had a bottle each, I rewarded myself with three. I remember the time when I used to hate beer so much, I couldn’t stand the taste.. now it’s pretty much a part of me. I don’t drink it often but when I do I definitely enjoy it. Of course, …

Sickly No More

2010 wasn’t the greatest year for me when it came to health. I had my worst tonsillitis cases that visited me often–at one point almost every month, I had my left wisdom teeth removed (which really hurt like a bitch), I would catch the flu really quickly and any amount of fatigue would send me straight over the edge. Needless to say I missed a lot of work days. I guess stress was also one of the triggers because my office was still in the middle of the Jakarta CBD and I would spend a minimum of 1:30 hours in traffic in the morning and another 1:30 at night. That’s just the minimum. One time I left the house at 7 in the morning and didn’t arrive until almost 11am. That was so bad and I told myself then that no matter how glamorous that job was with all the corporate stuff I dreamed about ever since I was a kid, traveling stress wasn’t worth it. I was always so down and worn out by …

Not on WordPress

Being new here at work I’m still a little bit shy when it comes to browsing websites when I’m idle. Unlike my previous job, the cubicles were big so the computers were covered but in this one it’s a bit more on the lower side so people can see what you’re doing on the computer (that is, if they have time to look–everyone seems so busy here). This office is also much more bigger compared to the old one, there were only a maximum of 6 in the department and now I’m in an office of 20 all spread out. It’s a huge difference.. so I’m trying out this application which enables me to post entries not from the web browser. Hitting “publish” after this. I really love this new theme I have. It’s white, it’s minimal.. it has my favorite fonts (Georgia for header, Arial/Helvetica for the content). I added a bit of color but I’m probably going to edit this more in the future, not too many changes just suited to my style. …

Time Woes

If I could only take a year or even half a year off just to wind down and figure out what I want in life, I would. But I’m Asian and things don’t work out that way. I miss being able to hang out with friends and you don’t have to be aware of time or plan crazily like, “Oh I have work” or “I don’t get out until (insert late time here)”. Times when, “let’s go out” and “be there in an hour” that kind of stuff doesn’t apply anymore. Especially when we were in uni we had so much time to kill in between classes ar after classes it would be so easy to just keep staying together. I miss that. I think I need to live in another city where time isn’t being such a bitch because you have to think of traffic and the amount of time it gets you from point A to point B. Everything has to be thought out and considered from the other party’s point. I’m totally …
