On Holidays and Goals

The year is coming to a close and before I leave for my much needed Christmas holiday I’d like to take the time out to write a little in this blog. It’s been a while since I’ve learned to write for myself in this little avenue of mine. I certainly still do it with the thought of people actually reading it (although not as much as before) but I really have learned to keep writing and writing even though I don’t do it as often. It’s the reason why I still have the blog, so I can still write, because God knows much writing I get to do in the “outside” world that doesn’t involve work emails, tweets and product proposals. In 2015 I won’t make a resolution, instead I will create a journey. A journey that will hopefully lead me to positive things in my life. I haven’t really formulated a plan, but I will list out the things that I have started on before the year has started, and hopefully this will continue …

Things I Love Thursday, #5

Can you believe it’s been 3 years since my last TILT? 2011! Well then, let’s proceed! 1. LORAC Pro 2 Palette, about $42   I got mine last weekend and I have been using it every single day since. My first major palette was the LORAC Stylist (Naked, what?) so it made perfect sense to me that I would purchase the LORAC Pro 2. It seems like US-based beauty bloggers prefer the original LORAC Pro to this one, but I feel like I can do more looks with this 2nd one and it also looks friendlier to my skin tone. I’m excited for my journey with this palette! 2. NARS Audacious in Vivien, about $32 As much as I want to include so many other beauty-related things (ahem, Real Techniques Nic’s Picks set, ahem).. I promised I wouldn’t make this list makeup-centric so this will be the last beauty item! I bought this sometime last month and if only I had lesser things to pay for I would definitely get me more of these. Imagine, there are about 40 colors in …

Year Ender

And just like that, it’s December once again. When in the Philippines, it’s a month of Christmas parties, crazy traffic and panic buying. I don’t think I’ll ever get fully used to this culture. Filipinos are so rich when it’s Christmas season and the next thing you know it’s January again and people are back on the grind, working hard for the next holiday season. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE all of it.. but having grown up in a country where Christmas is just a holiday, I still get somewhat surprised and ultimately overwhelmed. The good news is, I’m traveling this Christmas and going back “home” to Jakarta! Funny how things are the other way around now, I used to get so excited about coming home to Cebu during the holiday season. I thought 2014 was going to be the first year I don’t get to travel abroad after a long time, but this Christmas trip saved it. I am one lucky daughter. I usually try to do a “looking back” entry at the …

From the Universe

I was going through my TUT emails (I’ve been subscribing since 2010), reading the ones I missed the past few days and marked “as read” immediately. This particular one struck me, and hit me like a hammer on the chest. You are not meant to bear that which you find unpleasant, Justine, you are meant to change it. That’s why you feel it. Your every twitch of pain and malaise invites you to wake up, pushing you to seek grander truths that will reveal a bigger reality and a more magnificent you, ever closer to an awareness of your true place within reality creation – as a Creator. Boom, The Universe In this blog I’ve mentioned about personal issues I faced and still continue to. It’s not something I freely share because really, I’d rather look at the brighter side of life. I am fighting internal demons and they don’t feel pretty most of the time. TUT’s email above helps a little, it helps during bad days when all I want to do is disappear. …

Day 31 – Your favorite: Hobbies and way to spend down-time

The last entry has finally arrived. To be honest, I was actually stalling on purpose so that I didn’t have to seal the deal on this blog challenge. Here goes.. Aside from makeup that has eaten up a lot of my time (and money) the past two years? I guess it’s time to bring out the hobbies. When I’m not at work, I’m usually a homebody through and through, fangirling here and there and watching my favorite tv shows, movies and Korean variety shows. This probably doesn’t reflect my “perceived” personality, but I actually spend a lot of time at home. I go out on weekends as well; if not to the mall or cafes, usually to a bar or a party because I like to dance and mingle with people, and I love my alcohol! I know, I’m all over the place when it comes to my interests. Food trips are another thing, I’m not usually one to shy away from new places to eat or new food to try. I’ve been doing yoga weekly for more than …
