Another December

Another December

I’m in Singapore right now as I type this, and just like last year, I’m spending the whole month out of the country again. The difference this time is that it’s super hot and humid as opposed to my snow-filled 2015 December in the East Coast. My trip here isn’t purely pleasure as I’m here for work at the head office. But then again, I count work as pleasure so it’s a win-win for me nevertheless. My family is coming down in the next few weeks and we all decided to just spend Christmas here.

I left on December 2 and started on a good note spending the weekend with old colleagues and Singapore reunions with old friends. This is my 4th time to Singapore this year (and probably my 65th all time), but I’m glad I got to go to places I haven’t been to before and do things I haven’t despite being so familiar with the city. In hindsight there isn’t much to do here, but if you find the right events and the right places to go to, and see it as a new experience each time, Singapore never disappoints. Especially when it comes to food.

Honestly, it doesn’t feel like December or the end of the year all too much. In less than a month another new year is arriving and it’s probably going to pass us by like a rocket ship once again. Wasn’t I just raving about how excited I was to be in New York last year? Ahh, the magic of time. One year older, but probably none the wiser.

After last year’s craziness, I appreciate that this year was a bit more tension free and just about taking it easy. In retrospect, the issues that fazed me didn’t involve any hospital visits and I’m trying to face them as much as I can in a more mature and adult fashion. Sure, #adulting will always be a challenge but facing it should always be worth it. Life will always be an uphill climb, right? Might as well go with the motions.

The Sunday Currently, v23

FEELING
I’ve been having really sudden bouts of bad headache the whole weekend. It’s weird because when I’m doing something like reading or watching something it goes away but when I’m idle or just looking around that’s when I really feel it. I have a feeling it has something to do with my glasses usage because I’ve had to take it off and put it on again a few times this weekend.

READING
Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan. I’ve been having a good streak with cheesy, romantic books this month and fortunately this is a trilogy starring 3 friends and their 3 different love lives. So far, so good!

NYC In A Nutshell

If I wasn’t such a lazy person, I’d be a vlogger by now. I can’t even maintain a full blog let alone do video blogs. It takes up so much of your time and requires a whole lot of dedication. Carrying a DSLR alone is already dedication in itself.

After almost a year since my trip to the East Coast for Christmas and New Year, I have finally decided to wrap up the video montage of my few days in NYC. My sister took most of the footage because she had her own video to do, but here are some snippets of that crazy city in our eyes.

Review: ban.do 2017 Classic Agenda

I admit, I am always on the hunt for new notebooks, planners, agendas, journals, and anything similar to it. I love the current planner that I use daily, the Peter Pauper Press Weekly Planner because it’s compact, not too thick, and just the right size to fit into any bag. It’s also not too heavy (for a 17-month planner) and I’ve been using it for about a year now.

I am obsessed with stationery and planners become naturally part of that obsession. I have lost count on how many journals I have loved and put away unfinished, just because I found a new one. Here’s my review of the ban.do 17-month classic agenda!

First Impressions

I honestly thought it would feel more compact. I was a little surprised that it was thicker and bulkier than I had expected. If I’m not mistaken this is the smallest size but it still feels quite bulky and heavy. I think I just got spoiled with my current planner because it’s the right size and thickness. The ban.do planner on the other hand, is not something I can shove into a handbag. It looks kind of like a very good quality hardcover bible or novel. Which isn’t a bad thing, but it will take time getting used to for me.

Friday’s 10 Happy Things, v14

I was a bit surprised to find out that my last 10HT entry was 3 months ago. I’ve been having some sort of a mental struggle lately and doing this series always reminds me to be grateful of what I have, despite the all the shitty things I’m feeling.

1. Meeting Erwan Heussaff. His film crew together with Wil & Haley Dasovich (who I also met) were in Cebu yesterday to do a Cebu leg for his Overnight Travel Guide series. I had dinner at the hotel they were staying at and glad I got to catch Erwan and had a little chat with him. I’ve been following him since he did his cooking videos on Vimeo that were so raw and authentic. Absolutely proud of his success and I’m glad he was such an easy person to have a conversation with.

2. My new Kindle cover. I ordered a baby pink magnetic cover for my Kindle Paperwhite off eBay about a month ago and didn’t expect for it to arrive at all, considering the perils of Philippine customs. It was $6 (so cheap huhu) I was willing to risk so I was definitely surprised it arrived yesterday and straight to my house despite it being a standard post. Are things finally changing?

3. Sunday night birthday parties. One of my dear friends celebrated her birthday and although I was reluctant to go because of Monday work, I suggested to her that it would be good if we started early. She agreed and it didn’t stop us from having the best fun we could ever have. It was a good night.

4. A full & balanced weekend. September was a month of alcohol cleanse, rest, and bringing my health back to optimum levels. Last Friday I went hard after a while, but still keeping my sanity. On Saturday my friends and I went to visit Simala Church in the South of Cebu and I took that opportunity to just be thankful and practice gratefulness.

5. Payday Monday. I mean, that’s enough to put on this list, right? Say no more.
