Protect The Boss: Final Thoughts

Officially done with Protect The Boss (??? ???). I feel like I should do a thought-entry about it since it’s one of the most refreshing K-dramas I’ve seen that had every element a sane viewer would want.

First thing’s first of course, I will address the ever-famous Jaejoong:

  • This is the very first Jaejoong thing I’ve seen. I’ve never really followed DBSK at all, and I’ve always been known as a Jeje-hater because I NEVER UNDERSTOOD the guy’s appeal and why so many millions of girls would die in his arms.. but now I understand. His acting wasn’t great, but it was good enough to make you want to love his character.
  • I felt like he was more comfortable acting with Ji Sung than the ladies. You could see him let go of his doubts when he was with the men rather than the women (of course that included his mom in the drama).
  • The voice, how can you have that look and have that singing voice? Definitely one of the many physicall gifted, talented, charismatic fortunate people in this world.
  • There were times when I was extremely bothered with his physical features. I know he’s a heavy smoker so they really tried to cover that and the usage of BB Cream on men in this drama is quite apparent. Also his eyebags, my goodness. Don’t tire yourself out.. aren’t you supposed to have more free time now that you’re away from SME? Still fighting battles, I see.

Paris Mon Ami

Indonesian fashion blogger and one of my close friends, Caroline Robianto, invited me to a fashion event by Hermés called Paris Mon Ami to launch their new scarf line in Indonesia. I’m not usually a fashion person (although my bff says otherwise), I mean most of the time I prefer comfort over style but I never not care about how I look and always try too look my best even in just shorts and flip flops. So when she told me she was going to invite me, I admit I was sort of freaking out. I wasn’t in the league of fashionable people!!! WHAT TO WEAR HOW TO ACT.

The invitation was really personal and I liked how they actually mailed it rather than the usual social media approach.

Pink for October

It’s officially one week into October and it makes me stop and think, “Where the fuck did time go?” 2011 has been more often a great year than not, and I’m immensely thankful for that. One of the things I am always thankful for up to now, is that my mom is still and continues to be happy and healthy. She has been a breast cancer survivor for 3 years now and there’s not a single day in which I am not thankful about her current health.

When I saw this OctoPink theme while browsing the web I thought it looked really nice and appropriate for the blog. Pink happens to be the representing color for Breast Cancer Awareness so I decided to change to this theme for a whole month. I’ve always been neutral with the color pink, sometimes I love it sometimes I don’t but there’s always something about pink which catches your attention. Just a few months ago my aunt who lives in New York (and also a breast cancer survivor) gave my mom stuff from Fight Like A Girl which were really cute! There were charm-bracelets, shirts, hats, and all these cute pins and accessories. I think one day I’m going to steal those and wear em.

I have a great amount of respect for people who deal / have dealt with cancer in the family. It’s a filthy disease and I hope that while I’m still part of this generation I may able to see the cure or a fix; not just for breast cancer, but also to eliminate of all the present cancerous cells that exist in this world. Fight!

/edit: I thought the theme was too pink so I reverted back to my old one.. which is also pink anyway! Just softer ;p

RIP Steve Jobs

RIP Uncle Steve. You truly are, one of the greatest of our time. You’re going to be one hard act to follow.. but you paved the way for so many enthusiasts who don’t only aspire to create like you but have your integrity and perseverance. You will be missed.

Last Friday Night

It’s another Monday and another start to the week. Not to mention it’s officially October.. we can finally stop rolling our eyes to statuses like “Wake me up when September ends.” I love sleeping, but I’m sure sleeping for a whole month isn’t the best idea. Last Friday I went out with old Uni friends I hadn’t seen in a while. We basically went our own ways after graduating; a friend went to China to study Mandarin for a year (he said it was like a year-long vacation, envious!), another got married not too long ago, one started his own online gaming business while still working, some maintaining family businesses and the rest being part of the working class. Just less than 2 years ago we were still sitting in class trying to figure out what to do with our lives and here we are, all employed. Quite surreal.

Kourtney (coz I'm really short), Khloe (coz she's really tall), and Kim (because she's got the hips)

Peach Beer

Caroline and me.

Yup. Of course I sang. I have no shame after all.

We took a lot of Instax shots too. I might make a post dedicated to all the shots I've taken recently.

The Gang

We went out for dinner then went clubbing (which was packed, packed, packed so I didn’t take any photos). Even as we went out the Security team was crowding over a few men because they were too drunk and wanted to use their power (pun intended) to fight the security. It was more lame than scary. Men of the douche circle are so laughable sometimes.

The night was closed with a sleepover with my girls like what we used to do back in uni when we had deadlines, assignments and exams to cram. Part of me still wishes I was still living that life but at the end of the day I’m glad I have a job and a little money to shop, wine and dine.
