Things I Love Thursday, #5

Can you believe it’s been 3 years since my last TILT? 2011! Well then, let’s proceed!

1. LORAC Pro 2 Palette, about $42

I got mine last weekend and I have been using it every single day since. My first major palette was the LORAC Stylist (Naked, what?) so it made perfect sense to me that I would purchase the LORAC Pro 2. It seems like US-based beauty bloggers prefer the original LORAC Pro to this one, but I feel like I can do more looks with this 2nd one and it also looks friendlier to my skin tone. I’m excited for my journey with this palette!

2. NARS Audacious in Vivien, about $32

As much as I want to include so many other beauty-related things (ahem, Real Techniques Nic’s Picks set, ahem).. I promised I wouldn’t make this list makeup-centric so this will be the last beauty item! I bought this sometime last month and if only I had lesser things to pay for I would definitely get me more of these. Imagine, there are about 40 colors in this line and at almost Php1800 per lipstick, it’s not exactly impulse buy friendly. But I love it so much and it could be the best lipstick I own. I seriously thought I was happy with my MACs. The forumla is amazing, the application is great and the color is so damn pretty. I am also happy I chose Viviene among all the others colors. It’s great for every day wear but it’s also wearable for special occasions.

3. GrabTaxi Promos in Cebu

GrabTaxi has been around in Cebu since early this year but it’s only now that we’re being spoiled by promos. Last month was the -P100 fare and now until the 21st of December they’re currently offering -P50 fare which still isn’t bad. It’s so useful and I save a lot of money. It’s also so much safer to go home because my work schedule ends at exactly midnight!

4. Sims FreePlay

I have been playing this game nonstop on my iPad Mini for about 3 weeks now. It looks so good on the retina versions, compared to when I played it on my old iPhone a couple of years ago that I ended up uninstalling it. I’ve even resorted to spending money on LPs and Simoleons. Help! There are no cheats for this damn thing and there are times I just get too impatient that I end up reducing App Store credits.

5. Roommate Season 2

Roommate is a Korean variety show where they house different celebrities from different industries and age groups, put them in one big amazing house and let them do challenges. It’s sort of like a wholesome family friendly version of Celebrity Big Brother minus the Big Brother aspect and being quarantined in a house 24/7. The celebrities still go to work or whatever activities they need to do but they must go home to this house. Cameras also get to follow them when they go to the supermarket or buy things for the house. It’s so much fun! I’ve only gotten into it with Season 2 and I have been loving the new cast and the activities they do. I might be out of touch with Korean entertainment lately, but Roommate is awesome.

Seoul City 2013, pt. 1

How do I do this? I have so many photos! I was in Seoul, Korea for 9 nights and 8 days last March to April. I loved it there. I even felt like I didn’t appreciate it as much then because HOLY HELL I MISS IT SO MUCH RIGHT NOW. I finally got to see Caroline after ages too, who knew we would reunite in Seoul, out of all places?

Where do I start? This entry is going to be flooded with photos if I put them all in this post! Here’s a little of Seoul and beyond.

Hey there, March

March is as bittersweet as it gets. Here I am nursing a leukocytosis, my WBC count is high thus I have what it is called a bacterial infection, in layman’s term.

My second batch of ASOS goods never arrived since my purchase last December, so I got a refund. As much as I love having money again.. I really wanted those things. Nevertheless, I still love ASOS for its amazing sale goods and really great customer service. It’s a shame the Philippine Post Office sucks monkey balls.

I will be traveling to Korea end of month. I am so excited! Getting to see the city I’ve been wanting to go to for a few years now, catching up with old friends, hopefully meeting new ones and meeting one of my best friends whom I haven’t seen in a while. Should be good!

I’ve been struggling a bit when it comes to keeping my finances in tact. This uphill road to financial independence is starting to take a toll on me. 2012 went by too fast with hardly any savings so I’m really trying my best this year. Don’t give up!

Need to lay off on the carbs. Losing weight isn’t really a priority as much as keeping a healthy lifestyle is, but even the latter I’ve been losing track of these last couple of weeks. Too many temptations and too much good food (read: bad food) around me!

Good news is, I haven’t had alcohol in quite a while. The last time was around mid-January and since then I’ve been a good girl when it comes to drinking (or no drinking). All that will change come summer parties and events. I need to balance it all out.

Work is good to me. It’s one thing I can count on fucking me over, but still getting back on top fine. I like that I have that reassurance for now. My mind and my anxiety might be in shambles.. but work is my refuge.

You know what else is my refuge (and always has been for a while now)? Fangirling. I was sad I couldn’t go to the 2PM concert in Manila last week (see item on finance above), but if I went I wouldn’t be able to really spend on what I want by the end of the month. I hope I have the chance to see them again for the 3rd time.

That’s pretty much what I have for now. This blog will always be a dear to me, so I really do feel guilty if I don’t check in once in a while to write/post something.

The 2PM Experience

Related Post: 2PM, Finally!

It’s taking me a while to come up with a decent blog post about my experience during last Friday’s 2PM concert, because I don’t know where to start. My word vomits about my experiences during that night have all been spewed on both my twitter accounts and told to friends who have been asking me about my experience but there’s just something about actually coming up with the right words to say in a blog post that’s so hard. It’s Tuesday as I currently write this but I have no idea when it will be published (FRIDAY!).. so I’m just forcing myself to just write so I don’t have to torture myself on how to come up with the entry for this blog. I know a lot of my online friends aren’t K-pop fans, and I didn’t get into K-pop until late 2009, where I already established a place in the internet as a blogger (who had no knowledge about K-pop and was a rock chick at heart) in both tumblr and my various sites but it was also tumblr that introduced me to 2PM.. then gradually K-pop as a whole. That time I was also kind of unmotivated, I had just finished uni waiting to graduate and I couldn’t have been more lost. K-pop made me temporarily forget about a whole lot of worries.. I can say it got me through pretty much a bunch of shit I wouldn’t be as comfortable talking about by now.

Tickets
The promoters had announced the ticket prices by August or September so we had time to save up for whatever price they were going to throw at us. I was ready to buy the most expensive seats because the promoters promised us it would be numbered seats (to prevent any crazy stomping fainting fangirls happening) but I had another dilemma, I would also be paying for my sister because there’s no way in hell my parents would be paying for her and it would be totally unfair to not bring her, she’s a K-pop fan too because of me (although not as much as me, shocking.. she’s the tween after all). The most expensive ticket was Diamond class at over $220 so it definitely got me thinking if I were to buy 2 that’s gonna burn a crazy whole in my personal pocket but being the awesome sister that I am, of course I bought my sister one too. I didn’t think anymore, if I did then it would have been more painful. Thank goodness the promoters gave us a timeframe to save (they also had a 50% payment promo) and thanks to my friend Janey and fellow 2PM fangirl who queued in line from 8am to get our tickets so we could get nice seats and sit together.

Concert Day
Friday was a whirlwind of emotions. I purposely skipped work that day so I could gather up all the energy that would be spent that night. I had bought a new camera for the concert (yes the P300) because SLRs or any form of professional AV recording equipment weren’t allowed. I was actually quite surprised at myself for being pretty calm during the days and weeks leading up to the concert, I had been waiting for this day since the last time I saw them last March (for merely 20 minutes and 4 songs), not to mention I had to get back my concert streak from when I missed Incubus last July and that really broke my heart. That’s why I didn’t go to work, if I did it would have been the same as that Incubus incident.. I couldn’t get out of the office in time. I still feel sad every time I think about that day, ugh!

Concert

The start of the concert when they came out on stage and everyone freaked out (naturally) including me that I couldn’t even hold my camera properly. I took better videos than better photos, mostly because they moved around on stage so much. Fangirling and spazzing to 6 dancing boys while focusing on taking good photos (plus trying to get rid of the heads in front of you) don’t really mix well together. I was a butthurt for a bit though, the concert had strict rules on not being allowed to bring SLR cameras or any professional equipment but when I got there some fangirls got to sneak in theirs. Ohwells. I don’t have the right lens anyway and it would’ve been a chore. I thought my Nikon P300 worked great enough that night.

Yup, definitely butthurt at that girl who brought her SLR.

If I wasn’t a 2PM fan I would be saying it was great, fun and a really enjoyable concert overall but I AM A FAN so it was amazing, even mindblowing. When they said it would be exactly the same as their concert in Seoul, they were NOT kidding. I felt like I should’ve paid more or something. The concert was about almost 2 and a half hours, laser lights, great production value, interactive boys, amazing stage. Pretty much everything you asked and wished for. The show was divided into two parts, the first part they sang songs from their latest album and the second part they sang all their hits and popular non-singles. There was an intermission in the middle where they showed a cute VTR supposedly narrated by Chansung’s cat Jeonggam, and how supposedly he sees the boys. It was cute, but the Indonesian translation was a little bit off. Here’s the Korean version with English subtitles, it’s quite funny and cute.

Protect The Boss: Final Thoughts

Officially done with Protect The Boss (??? ???). I feel like I should do a thought-entry about it since it’s one of the most refreshing K-dramas I’ve seen that had every element a sane viewer would want.

First thing’s first of course, I will address the ever-famous Jaejoong:

  • This is the very first Jaejoong thing I’ve seen. I’ve never really followed DBSK at all, and I’ve always been known as a Jeje-hater because I NEVER UNDERSTOOD the guy’s appeal and why so many millions of girls would die in his arms.. but now I understand. His acting wasn’t great, but it was good enough to make you want to love his character.
  • I felt like he was more comfortable acting with Ji Sung than the ladies. You could see him let go of his doubts when he was with the men rather than the women (of course that included his mom in the drama).
  • The voice, how can you have that look and have that singing voice? Definitely one of the many physicall gifted, talented, charismatic fortunate people in this world.
  • There were times when I was extremely bothered with his physical features. I know he’s a heavy smoker so they really tried to cover that and the usage of BB Cream on men in this drama is quite apparent. Also his eyebags, my goodness. Don’t tire yourself out.. aren’t you supposed to have more free time now that you’re away from SME? Still fighting battles, I see.
