Friday’s 10 Happy Things, v9

Seems like this is all I ever do because the week is so filled I usually only have time to blog on the weekends, so there’s FTHT and TSC posts. Heh. New music week! What a great week for pop music. Adele’s Hello, 1D’s Perfect, Justin Bieber’s Sorry, then DNCE’s EP dropping, and Drake’s Hotline Bling music video making waves all over the interwebs. Makes me proud to live in this era, tbh. This week’s You’re the Worst – Season 2 Episode 7: There Is Not Currently a Problem. This episode really moved me in more ways than one. It was such a strong one, I ended up crying more than I would have wanted. I put it in the happy list because I was so moved at how they portrayed someone suffering from clinical depression. Even while reading the LA Times article about the episode, it made me want to cry even more. A stressful work week. Lots of “phwoar!” things happened at work this week so this wasn’t initially a happy thing for me …

The Sunday Currently, v12

FEELING A little bit better, hopefully? It’s Day 9 of post-op recovery from tonsillectomy and while the previous days have been absolutely torture, I can actually see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. If you follow my twitter then you would have probably seen my tweets of the same kind below. The past week has been crazy. Tonsillectomy recovery in adults is not for the faint-hearted. I am glad I got to have a little bit of outside R&R this weekend because my family decided to book rooms at a beach resort nearby. After being cooped up in my room for a good 5 days crying in pain, I think I needed a different atmosphere. I did not imagine day 4-6 to be hurting this much. It’s synonymous to torture. #tonsillectomy — Justine (@juiceee) July 17, 2015 Other than that, today I found something that had the potential to break me and put me at my lowest. If this were me a month ago, I would have probably flipped and allowed …

Day 28 – Memories: Top 5 moments in your life

I will try not to think about this too much because then it will be too hard to narrow down. I have been blessed with a fruitful life and choosing the top 5 moments will be a challenge. I’ll try to make this as concise as I can as well. In no particular order.. 1) Disneyland Hong Kong in 2006 (Disneyland, period!). Went there just a few months after it opened because just as all 90s kids are I am a complete Disney geek. We stayed at one of the Disney hotels and I begged my mom to take the Disney train with me from the city (everyone else took a cab) and we walked ALL the way from the train station to the hotel (didn’t take the shuttle, nothing). Needless to say I started bawling my eyes out when I reached the place. I had this weird moment where I just broke down because of happiness. I can’t wait to visit Disney America, Europe and Japan, no matter how old I am! 2) Watching …

Day 18 – Your favorite: Childhood books

The only childhood books I ever remember really loving were the Sweet Valley Kids series. I’m pretty sure I was exposed to a lot of books as a child but Sweet Valley really stuck with me, up until Sweet Valley Twins, Sweet Valley High, Sweet Valley University, The Unicorn Club, SVJH (Sweet Valley Jr. High), Sweet Valley Senior Year, and even Sweet Valley Confidential, in which I posted about here and here. I remember getting this book during my 6th or 7th birthday. I was so happy. The Sweet Valley series were really a big part of my childhood. Other books that I remember really loving were different kinds of Enid Blyton books and a bit of The Babysitter’s Club as well. In my early “tweens” I also got into a lot of the Mary-Kate and Ashley franchise which includes their books like Two of a Kind, The Adventures of, and So Little Time collections and TV shows and DVDs. I think I was probably part of driving force on the twins’ rise to fame, …

Day 14 – Memories: Been to any concerts?

We’re almost halfway! I quite like this entry because it’s going to make me re-live some awesome moments. I haven’t been to a lot of concerts but I can say I’ve seen my favorites live.. two music acts that belong in completely different genres: Incubus and 2PM. I saw Incubus in 2008 with my best friends in Jakarta, and I saw 2PM live twice, both in 2011. First was with my best friend, and the second time was during their full fledged concert in Jakarta with my sister and this was the most I’ve ever paid for a concert. Worth. Every. Penny. There’s something about K-pop stage production that blows you away. The amount of work and effort and thought they put into it better than worth it in itself. Incubus, there’s even no need to mention what it’s like seeing your favorite band from 6th grade (up to now) live and singing ALL YOUR FAVORITE songs. My first and forever love. Brandon Boyd and his voice. Jose on the drums. Mike and being his …
