2015 Year In Review, Part I

Hello there! Happy Valentines Day and welcome to my very first entry of the year. Before I go through what’s been happening, I’d like to do another set of Year In Review entries again, like what I did last year (here). I remember having a really good introspective moment while doing that entry and while I feel like so much happened last year, I can’t believe it’s been more than one whole year since I did that. FEELING Generally anxious, to be honest. My anxiety levels have been crazy these past few weeks.. ever since I got out of my last hospital visit, actually. I don’t know if it’s just the whole transition to a newer routine, or being scared I’ll get sick again, or just trying to not do anything as to not trigger another crazy event in my life, but I hope I’ll get over this soon. It’s very discomforting. READING Right now it’s still The Vacationers by Emma Straub. I’ve been taking my time with this book, I started it at the end of my hospital stay but I haven’t had the chance to finish it yet. WATCHING Just finished watching the pilot episode of this show called Life In Pieces. It sort of reminds me of Modern Family sans the whole mockumentary format. I quite enjoyed the first episode and will probably watch the second episode to determine if it’s a show worth following. About to finish watching ep 2 and 3 of You’re The Worst‘s second season. …

Manila business trip. From Monday to Wednesday I was in Manila to meet with my colleagues and bosses! It was such a great experience. I will start to work remote full-time soon but I love that my new job allows me to travel to either Singapore or Manila once in a while to be in an office with my colleages and the last few days were just that. The Singapore team also flew down to Manila so it was definitely a reunion of sorts. Staying and working in BGC. I have always avoided going to Manila my whole life (sorry, guys) because I know how hectic it can get. I lived in Jakarta long enough to know what crazy city life is like. I love how BGC is like an insight to how Manila could have been. As superficial as I can get, for me, Manila = BGC. Crazy Rich Asians delivery. FEELING A little bit better, hopefully? It’s Day 9 of post-op recovery from tonsillectomy and while the previous days have been absolutely torture, I can actually see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. If you follow my twitter then you would have probably seen my tweets of the same kind below. The past week has been crazy. Tonsillectomy recovery in adults is not for the faint-hearted. I am glad I got to have a little bit of outside R&R this weekend because my family decided to book rooms at a beach resort nearby. After being cooped up in my room for a good 5 days crying in pain, I think I needed a different atmosphere. I did not imagine day 4-6 to be hurting this much. FEELING I’m okay for the most part, but generally anxious because of decisions I have to make that involves a lot of things at stake. Despite having a relaxing Sunday at home because of the rain (curse you), I did not sleep well at all. READING God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie DeBartolo! Ham recommended me this book a few days ago and I’m almost halfway through it. It’s about a 27-year-old girl who falls in love with a quirky man and the book tells the story of their relationship. I relate to the girl in more ways than her age. I have a feeling this isn’t going to end well, but I’m ready for that. WRITING This blog post and a few comments on blogs on my list to read.
